Endangered white rhino dies at San Diego Zoo

SAN DIEGO (AP) — A single of the previous northern white rhinos in the entire world has died in San Diego.

The San Diego Zoo Safari Park suggests Nola, a 41-yr-outdated feminine, was euthanized Sunday soon after her condition deteriorated. She’d been at the park considering that 1989.

The geriatric rhino experienced arthritis and was getting treated for a bacterial an infection joined to an abscess in her hip.

The zoo suggests Nola had medical procedures on Nov. 13 to drain the abscess but her wellness started to deteriorate about a 7 days in the past. She worsened above the earlier 24 hrs and vets decided they had to euthanize her.

Northern white rhinos are believed to be on the brink of extinction due to the fact of poaching. Only a few others are acknowledged to stay — all aged. They are in a Kenyan preserve.
