Amy Schumer and Serena Williams have graced the web pages of the 2016 Pirelli calendar, in a change absent from the publication’s classic pictures of nude supermodels.
The pair were component of a group of females who experienced been selected to characteristic in the calendar for their “excellent specialist, social, cultural, sporting and creative accomplishment”, photographer Annie Leibovitz stated.
Leibovitz mentioned at the calendar’s launch none of the images had been conceived with the male gaze in brain.
The calendar features no nude portraits — however Schumer and Williams had been both shot in their underwear — and no provocation in the posing.
Schumer posted her portrait to Twitter with the caption: “Beautiful, gross, robust, slim, excess fat, quite, unpleasant, hot, disgusting, flawless, woman.”
Leibovitz said Schumer’s picture “included some exciting”.
“It’s as if she didn’t get the memo declaring that she could maintain her outfits on,” she said in a statement.
The photographer stated the pictures were designed to look natural and easy with nominal submit-production function.
