A gentleman who went on demo accused of a double murder in Launceston has been granted bail soon after jurors unsuccessful to get to a verdict.
David Ronald Morgan, fifty six, of Lalor in Victoria, had pleaded not responsible to the murders of Angela Hallam and Joshua Newman in Ravenswood in August 2012.
Right after eleven hours of deliberations, jurors mentioned they had been not able to reach a verdict and ended up discharged this early morning.
The crown alleged Morgan was part of a joint company with Marco Daniel Rusterholz to bash Ms Hallam, and he ought to have foreseen that Rusterholz would murder the pair.
Morgan’s lawyers argued Rusterholz’s acted independently and Morgan could not have foreseen his steps.
In May, Rusterholtz was sentenced to 45 many years in prison for murdering the couple who he stabbed and then set on fireplace.
Morgan had been in custody because September 2012.
