River Torrens flushed to prevent blue green algae

A burst of very hot weather has prompted the SA Surroundings Division to start releasing drinking water into the River Torrens to attempt to prevent expansion of blue green algae in the Torrens Lake around Adelaide’s CBD.

The department’s Kym Great explained water from upstream reservoirs would be flushed by means of the Torrens in a series of managed releases.
