Trio break into units armed with steam iron, steal decorative swords: police

Two men and a woman, one armed with a steam iron, forced their way into a unit in Adelaide’s inner east before breaking into a second unit and stealing two decorative swords, police have alleged.

Just after 2:30pm on Thursday, the three suspects forced their way into the first unit at Hackney, assaulting a man who was inside.

They then allegedly forced their way into a neighbouring unit and stole two decorative swords.

Police said a struggle ensued and one of the suspects sustained a serious injury to a finger.

The suspects left the units, but were found by police a short time later.

A 32-year-old man from Croyden Park was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated serious criminal trespass, aggravated assault cause harm, theft and two counts of an offensive weapon.

He was refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.

A 36-year-old woman also from Croydon Park was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated serious criminal trespass, aggravated assault cause harm and theft.

She was also refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court.

A 43-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and is expected to be charged later.

He was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for medical treatment to his injured finger.
