Previous South Australian premier John Bannon has died, aged 72, soon after combating a severe ailment for several years.
The former Labor chief passed absent surrounded by family these days.
Mr Bannon led the Labor Celebration to Government at the 1982 election, in which he became leading and treasurer.
He held the positions for nearly a ten years, ahead of resigning in 1992.
Present South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill paid tribute to Mr Bannon, expressing he was a great buddy and mentor.
