Ex-servicemen Rally in Delhi Against OROP Announcement

NEW DELHI: With the protest more than ‘One Rank 1 Pension’ (OROP) marking its 183rd working day on Sunday, ex-servicemen gave the federal government three weeks’ time to resolve the situation, and warned of stringent methods following that.

“We have offered the govt two months, soon after that we will give 1 week’s notice. This disciplined agitation will adjust if the govt does not listen to us,” spokesperson of the Indian Ex-Servicemen (IESM) movement Col. Anil Kaul (retd) advised IANS at a rally at Jantar Mantar listed here.

He mentioned the action was taken pursuing a demand in this regard by ex-servicemen from throughout the country.

The veteran also said Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s assertion that most previous soldiers ended up pleased with the strategies has angered a lot more ex-servicemen.

A member of the IESM instructed IANS that they experienced almost agreed to tone down the movement, but Jaitley’s statement irked a number of users.

Ex-servicemen from throughout the country on Sunday held a ‘Sainik Akrosh’ rally here to protest the govt notification on OROP.

The veterans also said they will boycott the Republic Working day celebrations on January 26.

The member also said a 50 %-webpage ad that the veterans had provided in a leading newspaper was stopped after the government’s intervention.

The protesting ex-servicemen, who have been agitating at Jantar Mantar for the previous 183 times, declare that the OROP plan declared by the govt was different from its original definition that was agreed upon in between the two sides.

“There is no demand from customers… the (OROP) plan that parliament approved and the notification issued are distinct,” said Main Standard Satbir Singh (retd), who is spearheading the ex-servicemen’s agitation.

“There are 7 main blunders. They (govt) are telling the country they have provided OROP but they have actually finished it,” he explained.

Singh also slammed Jaitley for his alleged statement that far more ex-servicemen have been content with the OROP scheme declared by the federal government.

“We are sad (that) Jaitley stated most veterans have agreed to the plan… it is a lie… seem at the number of men and women who have occur,” he mentioned.

The IESM mentioned close to 10,000 men and women participated in the rally.
