Victorian court rules newspaper’s sources protected

The Supreme Court of Victoria has ruled The Age newspaper will not have to expose its sources over a sequence of articles prepared about a businessman it stated experienced hyperlinks to the mafia.

Grocer Antonio Madafferi claimed he had been defamed in twelve content articles about allegations of felony misconduct involving the Calabrian neighborhood in Australia.

Mr Madafferi has by no means been billed with any offence and has denied he is concerned with organised criminal offense.

He had utilized for the investigative journalists to reveal the identity of their resources so their reliability could be examined.

Justice John Dixon today dismissed Mr Madafferi’s application.

He said the general public curiosity was not strong ample for the resources to be unveiled.
