SANTIAGO: The coach of Chile countrywide soccer staff, Argentinean Jorge Sampaoli, on Friday dismissed media rumours that he plans to quit the team.
According to nearby daily La Tercera, Sampaoli was rumored to announce his resignation on Friday, following the head of the national soccer federation pleaded responsible in the United States to corruption, reports Xinhua.
Chile’s National Affiliation of Specialist Soccer (ANFP) issued a statement on Friday with Sampaoli’s declaration.
In the statement, Sampaoli said, “I have repeatedly explained I am waiting around right up until Jan. 4, when the new authorities of the ANFP will be elected.”
He extra, “as soon as the authorities are lawfully appointed, I will chat with them to define the conditions of my perform, in maintaining with the contract I signed.”
