MP cites daughter’s bullying in Facebook reprimand of same-sex marriage opponent

Tasmanian Greens leader Cassy O’Connor has cited her own daughter’s bullying experience in a passionate letter rejecting an MP’s claim of being bullied by exact same-sex relationship advocates.

“You see, ironically, the day you claimed to have been bullied as a consequence of your regressive stance on relationship equality was the working day my exact same-intercourse attracted seventeen-calendar year-aged daughter came house in tears simply because some little ones in city had been calling her a dyke,” Ms O’Connor wrote.

“This is what LGBTI youthful people expertise on a close to every day foundation. This is what an unequal modern society seems to be and feels like.”

“You are not the target right here and it was foolish to assert so,” she wrote.

“My 2nd piece of advice is to don’t forget that currently being in politics is by no means about you.”

Ms Ogilvie, who was tagged in the submit, has not responded to the feedback.
